“Hyperspeed fruits” is a series of three
oil paintings that revisits the classic genre of still life. After
immersing myself in 3D technologies, virtual media, artificial
intelligence, etc., I felt the need to return to painting, a fragile
and “imperfect” medium that directly highlights the flaws in my human
gestures. This series marks a turning point in my approach, distancing
me from my more digital and conceptual works in order to embrace the
fragility of oil painting, while still holding on to my fascination
with the underlying logic that governs both the universe and our
interpretations of it. Between colorful fruits, enigmatic codes, and a
reference to a cartoon character (Gary, the slow snail from SpongeBob
SquarePants), these seemingly disconnected images, contrasting the
organic nature of the fruits with the rigor of the structure, including
our dear Gary, are placed on the same level, with no hierarchy, simply
for the pleasure of making these elements coexist.
