This piece is
part of the “Eigengrau” series, a German term meaning “middle gray,”
referring to the color perceived when our eyes are closed—a visual
phenomenon both intimate and universal. This meticulously 3D-printed
sculpture is not merely a static object but an interactive device that
pushes the boundaries of traditional sculpture. It emits a standalone
Wi-Fi network, creating a virtual space accessible only to those
nearby. This network provides access to a series of AI-generated
images, each a visual interpretation of dream or nightmare memories.
These images, imbued with a dreamlike and unsettling quality, are
viewable directly on the screens of viewers’ smartphones or tablets, or
any device capable of connecting to the artwork’s Wi-Fi network. The
immersive aspect of the piece is enhanced by the fact that the artwork
itself generates this network, requiring no internet connection. Thus,
the work creates a unique experience at the intersection of physical
and digital art, where the boundaries between the real and the virtual
blur, offering the viewer privileged access to an intimate and
mysterious visual universe, directly born from memory and the
unconscious.
