Rouge Ultra est le fragment de la vie d'un jeune homme fasciné par les images morbides. Celles-ci sont pour lui comme un exutoire au souvenir de la mort de son meilleur ami, dont il fut le témoin dans son enfance.

Ce film mêle des prises de vue « réelles » et des images de synthèse. J'ai voulu travailler sur l’idée d'images « factices », pour faire état de toute la virtualisation du monde que le personnage s'est imposé pour s'en protéger. J'utilise la captation vidéo 3D (Kinect) pour pouvoir insérer la modélisation de mon acteur dans un environnement en images de synthèse que je crée ou que je découpe dans le « réel » à l'aide de photogrammétries, pour jouer sur l'ambiguïté du réalisme de mes images. J'ai voulu aborder ce projet en associant la tradition du romantisme noir, et son rapport au morbide, avec la prolifération d'images ultra-violentes qui grouillent dans le Dark Web.

Mettre en forme une passerelle cathartique pour réinterpréter la figure romantique dans cet environnement virtuel et abrupt, comme une matérialisation du nuage asphyxiant dans lequel le personnage cherche à fuir ou se perdre. Car il me semble qu'aujourd'hui se redéfinissent petit à petit les rapports sociaux ainsi que le sentiment d'existence à travers cet océan d'images. Comme si, en ce moment, se jouait la question du basculement vers un ailleurs virtuel qui n'est simplement qu'une superposition au monde que nous connaissons, avec ses beautés et ses profondeurs abyssales.

Rouge Ultra is the fragment of the life of a young man fascinated by morbid images. For him, these are like a catharsis for the memory of the death of his best friend, which he witnessed as a child.

This film mixes “real” shots and computer-generated images. I wanted to work on the idea of “factitious” images, to talk about the virtualisation of the world that the character imposed on himself in order to protect himself. I use 3D video capture (Kinect) so as to be able to insert the modelling of my actor in a CGI environment that I create or that I cut out from the “real” photogrammetrically, to play on the ambiguous realism of my images. I wanted to approach this project by associating the tradition of dark romanticism and its relation to morbidity, with the proliferation of ultra-violent images from the Dark Web.

Setting up a cathartic passageway to reinterpret the romantic figure in the virtual, abrupt environment, like a materialisation of the asphyxiating cloud in which the character tries to run away or lose himself. For it seems to me that today social relations and even the feeling of existence itself are being redefined through this ocean of images. As if, at the present time, what is in play is a switch towards a virtual elsewhere that is simply a superposition over the world we know, with its beauties and abyssal depths.
